Andrew Brunson’s lawyer filed an appeal on Wednesday to Turkey’s highest national court requesting his client be released from house arrest, Reuters reported.<\/h2>\n

Mr. Brunson\u2019s next court date is on October 12th, and he\u2019s been under arrest for over a year.<\/p>\n

The American evangelical pastor\u2019s plight has sparked a tense economic relationship between two NATO allies, with the U.S. slapping sanctions on top Turkish officials in response to the arrest.<\/p>\n

Mr. Brunson was arrested on terrorism charges after the Turkish government accused him of being involved with the attempted coup in 2016, but the U.S. denies the accusation.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration has repeatedly called for Mr. Brunson\u2019s release.<\/p>\n
